Cork Flooring for a Travel Trailer

Cork Flooring for a Travel Trailer — modern flooring photography

Q: I am interested in installing cork flooring in my Airstream travel trailer. What type do you suggest. I currently have a glue down carpet installed.
Brad

A: Since you currently have glue down carpet in your trailer I am guessing the subfloor is a plywood suitable for glue down applications, but I would caution you to ensure this is the case. Your safe bet here would be to go with a floating cork floor like all of the Westhollow lines or APC’s floating plank line. These are all simple to install and require little more than some time and cutting to install over your subfloor.
If you are concerned with floor height you can look into a glue down cork, but again I stress you need to ensure the subfloor in your trailer is built for this type of application. If your subfloor is OSB or particle board you will not be able to glue down to it.
In the end here I would suggest using a floating product as it will be much easier to replace anything should unfortunate damage occur, also it is much easier to install.
