Chip in Laminate Floor

Q: I unfortunately have a chip in my Shaw Natural Sensations Classic Maple floor laminate floor in my living room, it is a surface chip (not deep set) and I don’t have the piece that got chipped out. What are my options for repair? The chip is much too small for replacing the whole section (smaller than the fingernail on your pinky) – well in my opinion anyway.

A: Shaw makes a product for damage like this known as Color Fill. This is an acrylic filler which is built to color match Shaw’s laminate line. Your best bet here is to contact Shaw to make sure you get the specific color fill to match your flooring, then find it and fill the current chip in your floor.
The great thing about acrylic fillers like Color Fill is that they also seal the floor to prevent moisture from getting into the chipped area – so you won’t need to worry about moisture getting into the core of your laminate.
