Foam Flooring?

Q: hi, one of my friends just had new flooring put down in her apt. They way that she describes the floor is “foam flooring.” I can’t seem to find anything anywhere that describes this flooring or even has it. All I know is that it is good for basements, it’s a floating floor, you cut it to room size and then roll it out and that it is relatively new. Have you ever heard of any type of flooring that fits that description?
A: Although I don’t know any detailed specifics, this sounds like the akin of a rubber mat being rolled out like carpet. There is similar products used in work out rooms where they roll out a high density rubber as the main flooring surface. A similar product I am a bit more familiar with would be the rubber tiles made by RB Rubber. These are made in a puzzle piece like format and are widely used in work out rooms, martial arts dojos, shops and various other places expecting high traffic and looking for a bit of padding.
The benefit of flooring like this is that it is relatively impervious to water and moisture, which makes it great for a basement. Also, there are many designs to these types of floors which allows you to get a nice decor while still keeping the function of the product.
