Vinyl Tile over Linoleum

Q: I have Linolium in my laundry room & want to change it ti vinyl tiles. Would I be able to apply the tiles over the linolium if its without cracks or raised ares??

A: As long as your linoleum is well anchored to the floor you should be good to glue right over the top of the linoleum. What you MUST do before installation is scour the surface of the linoleum in order to give the glue a good surface to adhere to. If you leave the linoleum as it is, the glue will not bond properly and your vinyl tiles will begin to raise or worse. The good news here is that no linoleum or vinyl sheet flooring has been made with asbestos, meaning you will have no worries about roughing it up some and getting asbestos dust.
