Westhollow Cork Problems

Q: I have Westhollow Cork flooring, it has been down for approx. 6 months. I have 3 areas where the seams between the floating planks is uneven, one side of the plank is slightly higher than the one next to it. How can this be fixed?
It is a floating click together type of floor. The floor was installed over concrete. We took all the precautions suggested by the manufacturer as far as climatizing the floor, etc. is concerned. The cork is in our great room, kitchen, dining, living rooms. I don’t think my problem is caused by moisture, and the problem is only occurring on 6 of the seams in a 900 square ft room. Any suggestions?

A: The two most common causes of the issue you are running into are subfloor and moisture, but let me go into some detail to explain why.
On the moisture side, this can occur when too much cleaner is used, and some of it will seep into the seam causing location based shifting. When cleaning, you need to be using something akin to a swiffer or a light mist from a spray bottle followed up by a microfiber mop to clean. This will usually cause a curl shaped rising at the seams.
Unlevel areas of the subfloor cause this issue as well. It will appear a bit more square then from the cleaner, but here is what happens. After the floor itself settles, this is similar to acclimation, over a few weeks, differences in the subfloor can begin to be apparent as some areas will appear raised.
