Bathrooms

Bathrooms — modern flooring photography

Just a note in general. I have repeated this advice many times, however, I would like to reinforce this:

Wood based products are not ideal for bathrooms – especially ACTIVE bathrooms.

Wood based products include laminate, hardwood, engineered wood, bamboo and cork. All of these flooring products are made mostly of wood or wood products. Wood and water are not compatible.

Now just for the sake of confession let me say that I in fact have wood in one of my bathrooms, the powder room, which is a low usage room. I purchased the house already like this so I personally wouldn’t have made the choice.

My point is that in a low usage room it is still risky due to possible leaks etc… – but on a relative basis it would be the most realistic bathroom installation for wood type products vs. the kids bathroom with a bathtub that is getting constant usage. Logical right? For those active rooms I would suggest ceramic tile, stone or vinyl as your primary option.

I hope this helps.
